DNA Databases

The federal government is considering a bill that would give it the authority to collect and permanently store DNA information of American citizens. It will have the right to collect and store DNA information if you arrested, regardless of the charge and regardless if you are convicted or not. They can collect and store your DNA information for the most minor of crimes if they wanted to, including that of peaceful protest against the government. They could collect and store DNA information of foreign immigrants, anyone coming into the country, even if no crime is committed.

Your DNA is not like your finger print. It includes sensitive and private medical information. Why should big government be given the right to collect this information without regard to your constitutionally-protected privacy?

People are free to read the law and comment to the government on it here.
