Something New About Fishing

There are regulations on fishing that people target the big, old fish and leave younger fish to proliferate. According to research, it is wrong. Study shows that a single large fish will simply grow a little when it gets more food, or lose a little weight when food is scarce. A population of many young, small fish, however, may explode in number or collapse depending on food availability. It's not the young ones that should be thrown back, but the larger, older fish that should be spared. The older fish not only provide stability to fish population, but provide more and better quality offspring. Therefore, fisheries should in fact encourage the taking of smaller, younger fish instead of requiring that they be thrown back.
