To Do List

Hi, everyone. Progress still seems slow, here, so I've taken the initiative and put up some pages for us to work on. We should official party nominees after today (or soon), so that might be a good target to shoot for (i.e., fewer candidates may be easier to cover).

Anyway, please take on one or more of these priorities and get'em done. I want to see definite progress on these before class on Thurs so we can talk about them.

I'm not sure if everyone is clear on my idea for the website, so let me briefly sketch what I have in mind. Basically, it's supposed to be a website where SCSU students can come and learn about the elections, read news and editorials, and participate by commenting or joining in the forums. It should be a sort of "hub" for any SCSU student interested in the political race. There are already many sites out there for general people, so the "slant" here is on SCSU to make it special. We really need to try to target that demographic.

Since our time is extremely limited, and it's doubtful that you guys will want to continue working on the site after the class is over, I want to get something up and functioning ASAP. I think if everyone works hard we can have this site up and running in two weeks. Then we can start testing the site and finding obvious problems, and roll it out. Sooner is better.

1. Need to talk about the graphic above -- it's a pic that's 643 x 239. Obviously, it's a very prominent graphic, so we need to think hard about what we want there instead (I'm assuming we don't want this one, but could be wrong.) Remember that we do have access to a graphic designer, so if we can agree on an idea for the image, we can pass her the description and get some drafts.

2. The following pages need to be filled out: About Us, FAQ, and Voter's Guide. We can take it easy on the Guide for now until some of the candidates are weeded out, but basically that is meant to be an unbiased guide to the candidates (their voting records, positions, etc.) It doesn't have to be greatly detailed, but should be useful.

3. We need to get people up and running with the blogs. It's simple enough, but I want to see people experimenting there and trying to learn how to use the system. We can always delete the experiments before going live, of course, so please experiment.

4. We need to think about a design for a flier.
